A checked bag sits in a car boot in Hyderabad traffic for forty minutes before the flight even boards, then rides in a cargo hold that isn't climate-controlled the way the cabin is. If there's a full 60ml bottle in there, it's just survived a small ordeal. One it will remember, even if you won't notice until later.

Perfume travels badly when it travels carelessly. It travels well when you plan for the two things that actually hurt it: heat, and glass that can't always absorb a knock.

What the rules actually allow

In the cabin, each liquid usually has to sit in a container of 100ml or less, inside one small clear bag, depending on the airline and the airport. A 60ml Epos bottle passes, but it takes most of that bag and every knock in the overhead bin. This is where a smaller size earns its keep: real enough to actually wear once you land, small enough to forget about until you do.

So the honest travel kit isn't the bottle you love most. It's the smallest size of it you own.

Decanting, done properly

If you only own the 60ml and you're travelling for a week, decant a small amount into a proper glass atomizer rather than carrying the whole bottle. Fill it just before you leave, not days in advance, so it isn't sitting half-full of air the whole trip, and keep it upright in a sealed bag alongside your other liquids.

Wrap glass in something soft. A bottle that survives a year on a shelf can still crack against a hairdryer in a badly packed pouch.

Heat is the real enemy, not altitude

Checked holds get cold at altitude and warm again on the tarmac, and that swing is harder on a fragrance than a single hot day. But you can't control the hold. You can control how long the bag sits in a hot car boot or a sunny hotel windowsill before and after the flight. Pack it in the middle of the suitcase, insulated by clothes, not against the outer wall where the sun hits first.
