How to tell a real bottle from a fake

A marketplace listing offers a "genuine" bottle at a steep discount, shipped by a third-party seller, with a few reviews mentioning a crushed box or a seal that looked already broken. It looks close enough to real. It's exactly the kind of thing this category has trained shoppers to be suspicious of, for good reason.

Here's the honest, unglamorous truth: the surest defence against a fake isn't a hologram or a scratch-code. It's where you bought it.

Sold only direct, on purpose

Monzzaro is sold from the house and nowhere else: no marketplaces, no resellers, no third-party shelf. So the simplest check in the world applies: if it didn't come from the house's own channel, it didn't come from Monzzaro, whatever the listing claims. A grey market needs a gap between the maker and the buyer. Selling only direct closes that gap before it opens.

What a real bottle actually shows you

A genuine bottle arrives sealed at first fill: filled once, at the house, and sealed before it ever leaves. It has never been opened, topped up or re-boxed by anyone in between. Break the seal yourself; that's what it's for. A bottle that arrives already opened, or resealed in a way that looks improvised, isn't one to trust, however it was described.

Every bottle is also batch-traceable back to the day it was filled: a real, internal record, not a marketing flourish. A seller who can't tell you which batch a bottle came from, or who is cagey about it, is a seller worth walking away from.

The price is a tell too

A price that undercuts the house's own listing by a wide margin should raise a question before it raises hope. Nobody moves a sealed, direct-only, batch-traceable product at a steep discount through a channel the house itself doesn't use, but a counterfeit sold cheap absolutely can, because its real cost was never the one on the label.

The one test no fake can pass

A copy can borrow a name and a bottle shape.
