The full bottle that sat in a drawer
Somewhere in most people's homes is a full bottle of something bought on a whim, worn twice, and left standing in a drawer since. It wasn't a bad perfume. It was a decision made too fast, on too little evidence: a few seconds on a strip, no real wear, no real day.
A perfume isn't a fair thing to judge in thirty seconds. It changes over hours. On an Epos, it's built to.

A sample costs a fraction of a full bottle and removes the entire risk of guessing wrong. So the maths favours sampling every time, even for someone who can easily afford the full size. The money saved by getting it right the first time is worth more than the smaller amount spent finding out.
This isn't caution for its own sake. It's the same logic as trying on a jacket before buying it, except a jacket doesn't change shape four hours after you put it on. A perfume does.
What a real test actually needs
A fair test needs three things a sniff at a counter can't give you: your own skin, a full day, and no distractions from five other scents competing on the same wrist. One perfume, worn from morning into evening, tells you more than ten strips ever will.
What the set is built for
