Three other roses in the room

A friend's engagement, afternoon sliding into evening. There are three other roses in the room and you could name every one of them from the doorway.

Around sunset, yours turns. The fruit goes. The rose stands up at full height, with something warm and dry rising underneath it. The woman beside you stops mid-sentence. It is a rose, she says, but it is not any rose I know. You tell her the name. She types it into her phone.

How it wears

Rose O'Clock is one of the six perfumes of La Collezione Epos, and each of the six is composed with Dyadic Olfaction. Two scent identities in one formula, with a deliberate turn built between them. You wear the first out; you arrive in the second.

The opening is bright fruit with the rose already present but not yet in charge. Bergamot lifts it, Turkish rose signs it, pink pepper gives it a small sparkle that keeps the whole thing from turning sweet or nostalgic.

The bridge feeds the flower. Plum, raspberry blossom and peony: ripe, juicy and floral all at once, which is what makes the rose read modern rather than antique.

Then it lands, and this is the part that makes people ask. Amber, nagarmotha and papyrus: warm amber under two dry, woody, slightly smoky materials. The rose is fully open and standing on something earthy and grown-up. Bright fruit at the beginning; the flower itself when the light goes low.

Who it's for

It is an everyday rose that never tips into old-fashioned. Bright enough for daytime and spring; the amber-wood landing carries it into evenings and romantic occasions without a second spray. It leans feminine and wears beautifully on anyone who loves a modern rose.

It is the most versatile perfume in Act I: comfortable at the office, at a formal lunch, at a party and on a date.

It is not for you if rose is a note you actively avoid; the flower is the whole argument here and there is no hiding from it. It is not a statement scent either: it stays elegant rather than commanding, so if you want weight, Crown Cardinal or Black Sunset will serve better. And it is the most expensive perfume in the collection, which is worth knowing before you choose.
