The room after you leave
You left early. Nothing dramatic about it; you simply had somewhere else to be.
An hour later someone in that room is still turning toward the chair you left, catching the last of it: smoke, warmth, something they cannot put a name to. They ask around the table. Nobody knows it. You are already across the city, and the scent has stayed behind to finish the conversation on your behalf.
How it wears
Black Sunset is one of the six perfumes of La Collezione Epos. All six are composed with Dyadic Olfaction. Two scent identities in one formula, joined by a turn that is built rather than left to chance.
The opening identity is aromatic spice, and it is deliberately composed. Juniper gives it a cool, dry, almost gin-like clarity; bitter orange keeps it from going austere; black pepper puts a spark on top. In daylight this reads as restrained, even severe. Nobody would guess what is underneath.
The bridge is the drama. Bulgarian rose, oud and labdanum, a dark rose laid over oud and resin, which is the oldest and most serious pairing in perfumery and still the best one. This is where the perfume stops being polite.
It lands smoky and animalic: tonka bean, civet and oakmoss. Warm, intimate, a little feral, with the oakmoss keeping it dry rather than sweet. This is the prestige piece of the house and the halo of Act I: Dusk, and it behaves like it.
Who it's for
It is for the collector and the enthusiast: the person who already owns several perfumes, knows what oud and civet actually smell like, and wants the one nobody else in the room could have chosen. It leans masculine and wears magnetically on anyone who wants to leave a mark.
Give it night, winter, black tie, and the occasions you intend to be remembered for.
It is the wrong perfume for the office; it is too much for a desk and will not thank you for the daylight. It is wrong for heat and humidity. And it is wrong for a first perfume. If you are new to the house, start with Midsea Murmur or Divine Dilemma and come back to this one when you want weight. Crown Cardinal is the polished cousin, with the animalic edge dialled down.
